Austria to Italy,

Austria to Italy, We said farewell to a very structured and orderly Austria and headed towards a somewhat less structured and messier Italy through numerous tunnels on both sides of the border. The change was immediately noticeable as we crossed the border. The drive through Austria was a delight, however the drive through Italy was quite monotonous as we were traveling on a straight 6 lane highway, except when we stopped for lunch at a delightful little castle “Castello di Partistagno” near the town of Udini. We will endeavor to avoid highways in Italy as much as possible from now on!!
Unfortunately the Castle and attached chapel were closed being a Monday, And we had to endure being lashed from the sky by the most torrential rain we have experienced for a long time. Dad quietly intoned that it was just a passing shower, little did he know that passing showers in Italy are slightly heavier than what we are used to in NZ. How ever once the rain abated we had a wonderful time exploring the castle grounds, with a lot of hilarity abounding.

Even though we were unable to enter the castle. It was still interesting to walk around the grounds

And there even was the obligatory door!!
