Istanbul Day 2

Istanbul Day 2 - Went to Church, what a wonderful time, lovely people, great message. Mainly expats. Had to go through a whole security check before we could enter the church, quite sobering for the children, makes you thankful for the freedoms we have in NZ. Out of a city of over 15 million people, there are only 8000 Turkish Christians left. Sad to think as Turkey was the cradle of the early church and Christianity.

After church we walked up Istikial Cd to Taksim Square, what a mass of humanity, ducked down cool little side streets to escape the crowds and rain. The children had their first experience of riding on the Metro, took us all an age to figure out how to get on with no english instructions, but between us all we nutted it out - Team work, Yay!!!!

Turkey is the home of the Tulips, so lots of tulips on display.

Feeding the Pigeons, these seem to inhabit every square we come across.

  1. It's all pretty WOW really. Good to see everything is going to plan.
Tell the boys we had a great night at Cadets and Gems making rockets. Lots of fun and lots of wet cadets after. Ephraim's rocket fell into the trees after his first shoot so that was that for him
