Holland - Day 5 and 6

Holland - Day 5 and 6, Day 5 we spent having a wonderful time with my parents in Apeldoorn, we enjoyed spending time with Ma and Pa over meal times, checking out the local Kinder Boederij (children's farm) just 2 min from my parents house, going for a walk at a local reserve - followed by ice cream and checking out Opa Harry's amazing vege garden.

Day 6 - We spent this at the world's largest flower show gardens, Keukenhof.  We first braved 2 hours
of up to 14 lane motorways chocka with traffic, with cars ducking and weaving in and out of lanes, haphazardly it seemed to us(!) but we finally made it to Keukenhof, somewhat relieved. We drove under an airport runway, with planes taking off over top of us!  It was a superb day, flowers, particularly tulips, displayed in glorious arrays, every corner you turned was resplendent with all colors of the rainbow and everything in between. Just pure eye catching indulgence.  The weather played its part - at 25 deg - the hottest spring day since 1906 😎.
The only down side was the number of people that were there, it seemed as though half of the 15 million dutch population along with tourists choose the same day as us to go to Keukenhof, thankfully we were there relatively early before the worst of the crowds.

Sitting and enjoying the sun with Oma in the garden in Apeldoorn.

Lots of animals to pat and cuddle at the Kinder Boederij

Going for a walk with Opa in a nearby nature reserve, yes there is still plenty of bush in Holland.

Helping Opa by filling his water barrel and checking out his amazing vege garden.
Louise got some useful tips as well!

Traffic heading to Amsterdam, on the way to Keukenhof, not really my cup of tea,
but a fact of life in Holland.

Flowers,

more flowers,

and yet more flowers,

even more flowers,

But wait more flowers!

Even whole fields of them!

Oh, there was water too

And boys being boys!!

And girls being cute.

lots of flowers to check out, the scents around the gardens were amazing!

And yes the boys can be calm too, well, for short bursts.

Even pretty elephants and cows!!!
