Holland Day 7

Holland Day 7 - Today was a day for photos galore, we even topped the tally for Keukenhof. We visited a quaint old dutch fishing village museum "Zuiderzee" in Enkhuizen, north of Amsterdam.
It was a picture perfect day, the sun was out, the colors amazing, the buildings and people really interesting. The museum staff were dressed in period costume, performing the daily tasks as they would have been done 200 or so years ago. This gave us all a real insight as to how such villages operated in years gone by,
The drive to the museum was really insightful as we drove via Flevoland and saw a lot of the dykes, canals and locks that make up this interesting land.

Following our trip to Zuiderzee we had a wonderful hearty meal at Louise's aunt and uncle's home, Oom Geert and Tante Aleid, who have been such a blessing to us during our stay.

We're praising God for this wonderful opportunity to share this trip together as a family - we have been so richly blessed.

Just an few images of this wonderful village museum, it was so hard to pick out a handful of photos from the hundreds that were taken, bearing in mind we have 2 cameras and 8 keen photographers!!

The fishing industry was well covered with displays of net and rope making, the men mending the nets were a funny couple of guys, even showing the children how to do a magic trick with a small piece of rope.

A glorious spring day with beautiful blossoms and stunning weather. Spring has been 5 to 7 deg warmer than usual - not that we were complaining!!!

The way people were dressed, it is lovely seeing the old traditions and customs being kept alive.

Humorous faces that adorned the fronts of pharmacies

Yes children (and adults!!) had opportunity to play games from the past, a whole range was set out for both young and old to try out.

Also as part of the outdoor museum there was a covered display of old fishing boats and  associated items and equipment related to the fishing industry and the lives of the people during that time.

To top the day off we had a delicious meal with Oom Geert and Tante Aleid.
