Istanbul - Day 3

Istanbul - Day 3, Today we went to the Grand bazaar and the spice bazaar, here are some comments that sum up the day.

Breathtaking - Caleb,
Extremely crazy - Josiah,
Busy, chaotic and unbelievably crowded - Samuel,
Crowdy, messy and busy - Annelise,
Big and busy - Reuben,
Yummy and full of people - Olivia,
A Turkish delight in more ways than one - Louise
Amazing, chaotic but wow - Ewout

The sights and sounds and smells were full on,
Surprisingly we were treated really well, the children bought out peoples kindness and we were spoilt with sweet treats, even free drinks with our doner Kebabs (Chilled butter milk, that the children quite liked, sort of yogurty flavour)
I think with our children in tow we were a bit of a oddity but in a pleasant way. Generally the Turkish people have treated us very kindly.
And yes we did return home (pretty shattered) with our "special purchases and mementos" and after a timid start we did our fair share of bargaining and got better as time went on.

A side street next to the bazaar, what is chaotic is when a motorbike tries to get through, better than a bus I suppose.

Getting your shoes shined

As the streets are so narrow, a lot of product gets barrowed around to its destination

The Grand Bazar, with every thing imaginable for sale

A side street beside the Bazar, these went on for miles, with crowds of people everywhere.

We enjoyed some traditional Turkish Kebas for lunch, although the free glass of milk came a a bit of a surprise as it was butter milk, a bit more sour than we are used to 😕

The Spice Bazaar, where we were spoilt with sweet treats thanks to the cheeky but sweet smiles of Olivia and Annelise.
